My name is Macrina; I am a Certified Massage Therapist and Health Educator.  I completed my training with the 800-hour massage instruction program from National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA, with more than 300 additional hours of massage and related clinic practice.  I am California state certified also.

With a prior lengthy career in healthcare, I have always advocated the importance of maintaining one’s health and wellbeing. However, nearing the end of that career, I began to realize my own health and wellbeing were being compromised. When I was last employed at a large medical center in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2015, my family was struggling like many others with affordable living and subsequent increasingly difficult and distant commuting. Those daily struggles began to manifest with increased stress, fatigue, depression, and several personal health issues.  It was a close and compassionate friend who finally suggested simply that I "seek balance".  Several life changes later, including an incredibly exciting new career, BALANCE MASSAGE was established.

My own approach to improved personal wellbeing has lead me lifelong to experience many complementary therapies (massage, acupuncture, meditation, yoga and tai chi among them).   I have long admired the healing quality of the massage practice and my many practitioners.  I have discovered that safe, knowledgeable and respectful touch can be profoundly healing and aiding to whole relaxation in the mind and body.  In so many instances, our bodies have amazing capacity for "self-correcting" when given the right conditions (supportive nutrition, rest, exercise and therapy such as massage can offer).  If there is opportunity, I may share at some point the very personal and poignant story of my first massage experience with you. It was on that occasion that I first set my intention to what now became my creation of BALANCE MASSAGE.  I hope you too will gratefully benefit and deeply appreciate your experience with massage as I have.  It is my privilege to be entrusted with helping others to achieve their greater wellbeing. My study and work in massage therapy feels authentic and natural to me; like it is where I was always meant to be.  Massage is work that I love.

In creating for you a safe and nurturing space to relax, rest, and rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit, I am grateful to be included in your own restorative journey.
